Realized for Broekman Logistics in Venlo (NL), this state-of-the-art warehouse offers storage for both hazardous and non-hazardous goods under one roof, including all logistic and assembly activities. The campus is multimodal with efficient links to the highway, inland ports and rail terminals. The warehouse adheres to the strictest ADR safety and environmental laws, and is both PGS-15 and PGS-8 certified. Specific for this type of warehouse are CO2 fire suppression, maximum floor loads up to 12.000 kg/m², and fire walls compliant with the various hazardous goods classes (2, 3, 4.1, 4.2., 4.3, 5.1, 5.2, 6.1, 8, 9).
The architectural design is straightforward. The warehouse is composition of various concrete bunkers. The office is low-key and incorporated into the warehouse volume. On the exterior, however, the design transforms the typical industrial box into a more fluid architectural gesture by accentuating the entrances, and breaking the façade through a series of ‘tectonic’ shifts.
