BE-Trans is a full service trucking company, offering international transport and integrated logistics services, including either the storage or direct transfer of goods. For the warehouse and offices in Geel (BE), a streamlined logistic strategy is realized on a deep, narrow building plot thanks to the spatial concept of function ‘stacking’. Various supporting functions are integrated into the upper levels, allowing for the complete ground level to be utilized for logistic purposes. A 50m wide warehouse is realized on a 70m building plot, resulting in a 180m deep warehouse. In order to increase warehouse efficiency, loading docks are provided in the front and rear of the building and are accessed via a counterclockwise flow of lorries around the building. The offices and multifunctional conference hall are stacked above the loading dock in the front, facing the E313 highway. These volumes are able to span the loading dock through the clever application of a trussed bridge construction. A private penthouse residence with garden terrace hovers further overhead.
